Difference between ipratropium and albuterol?

What's the difference between ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate? I'm asthmatic & I currently have an upper respiratory infection. My doctor gave me a nebulizer to use for a week or so. He only mentioned albuterol, but when I opened it up to check out the medication, there's both ipratropium AND albuterol in here. Are they the same medication?

and I need a refill on my albuterol sulfate inhalation solution and Ipratropium Bromide inhalant solution for my breathing machine?

Ive tried to find this answer on the net for over 20 minutes getting frustrated. Havent see anything on either box. mmm well ..thats pretty much all I know about the drugs..

When I was around 12 I was diagnosed with Asthma. It was pretty controlled then and I only had a few attacks when I would do a lot of continuous exercising. I am now 21 and have had the most horrible trouble dealing with my breathing problems the last 4 years. It started out as having shortness of breathe all the time out of the blue. Then after awhile I started wheezing and my throat would get tight. Now I can't even sleep for more than 4 hours at a time without waking up because I have an attack while I'm sleeping. When I wake up I have to go straight to my inhaler. This happens every night, all night. I have shortness of breathe constantly even while at rest. I have had an EKG, heart ultra-sound, cat scan on my chest and nasal passage, x-rays everything. All that has been found is some sinitis but I doubt that's what is causing all of this. I take Albuterol which only works for about 2 hours along with Ipratropium and I also take Symbicort. It seems medicine works for awhile then stops working. So I'm pretty much abusing my medicine by taking more than is perscribed because it's not controlling these attacks. I've tried Prednisone but it didn't do anything. I had to apply for SSI because of my condition and can't do anything active. I'm scared to even go out for more than 2 hours without my inhaler and nebulizer. I just don't know what to do. I can't work and I have bills and medicine to pay for. I have no insurance, so that sucks even more. It's just been really bad. I used to play sports, and play guitar and sing. Now I can't do none of that. It sucks. Any suggestions would help.

This COPD patient, who has now gone in to ICU once more in less than two months, had been losing hair for quite a few days before coming into hospital. Had been on Prednisone less than a month before and had stopped taking last week of prescription due to extreme stomach upset. She'd never had any hair loss in her life. Has been found to be anemic in this last hospitalization, and at least on one other, years back. Any clues to what this could be? Has been on no other meds, except Cardizem which she's taken for many years. Aside from albuterol inhaler had been using ipratropium with nebulizer. But even this last one is not really totally new for her. Had been in hospital less than month ago as well for very short stay w/ pneumonia. Only other thing I can think of is the CIPRO. Could this have caused it?
