Ethinyl estradiol FAQ

Need a comparable birthcontrol pill to Femcon - Must be brand name. Can anyone recommend one?

I get bc sample packs from the Dr's office, so I have to be on a brand name w/ no available generic. I have only ever been on Ovcon 35 and Femcon. I realize I might not be able to stay on a norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol pill. If there are any doctors, nurses, pa's out there, could you recommend one? Thanks :)

They're yasmin (drospierenone & ethinyl estradiol) pills. I've been on them a year and a half.

Is it safe to take these following meds at the same time? im taking ferrous sulfate and vitamin C. then my OB-gyn gave me birth control pills (cyproterone acetate, ethinyl estradiol). is it safe that im taking these three at the same time? thanks!

Or is there just one type? I take YAZ and my sister wants to take YAZ too. So, are there different types or just the one? I'm hoping that there is just one type. My pack says: Yaz and then (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol). Does that mean it is a different type?? Thank you for your answers in advance.

I recently just swtiched from Yasmin to Alesse. The Alesse is a lower dose pill than the Alesse and as such I've been getting headaches and breakthrough bleeding. Through some research I discovered that the Yasmin has 10 micrograms more ethinyl estradiol than the Alesse. I found out that normal regular dose pills like the Yasmin I had been taking normally have 30-50 micrograms of this. The only difference between the 2 is the progestin (Yasmin has Drosperinone 3mg and Alesse has 0.1mg levonorgestrel) My question is, that would taking 2 of the Alesse pills act similarily to taking one Yasmin, and is there any danger to it? And is there any serious difference between the 2 progestins?
