Clemastine FAQ
Very itchy 2 year old Wire Fox Terrier?
Gracie has been itching here and there since she was a little puppy. Started out with nothing major, fast forward to today...she is itching 24/7, chews/licks her paws. Her skin is pink in color all over the body with red spots (where she itches), also fur coat is less dense in areas where she itches. I took her to the vet 2 times for this same problem. First time we were given a spray that soothed itchy areas (it was only her neck at that time). 2 months ago I went for the second time and was given Clemastine Fumar and Advantage flea medication. Flea medication did not make the itching go away, nor did Clemastine F. Her itching does not increase/decrease with seasons or times of the day or outside weather. However she started to lick/chew her paws right after a big snow storm 2-3 weeks ago. There are two things I can come up with...food allergy or allergy to something inside the house or outside or both. Any suggestions on what to do? I've read that switching to Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Duck Allergy formula dog food may help, also switching to Aveeno Oatmeal-based shampoo. Thank you in advance! We try to wash her 2 times a month, but in winter time its tough because she gets really dirty at the dog park every time we go there. We tried puppy formula shampoo, flea formula, baby shampoo...none helped the skin irritation. OK, I bought her Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Duck formula. No more snack for about 10 weeks or so. Also I bought a shampoo that has aloe in it as well as oatmeal for Petco. I hope this solves the problem. Otherwise I foresee a trip to the vet...a different one this time.
What have to I do if my puppy have allergy reaction to the Bordetella vaccine as reverse sneezing?I have a puppy - 4 month French bulldog, He had nose drop form of Bordetella vaccination on 11/08/2008. Begining from day of vaccination he had a reverse sneezing almost every day and from 2 till 7 times a day. I think that it's allergy reaction to the vaccination because my puppy have not had sneezing before. My vet said that I was wrong, that it was only characteristic feature of French Bulldogs. But I'm not agree with this..... But it doesn't matter now. What have to I do to reduce this reaction? I really wish to cure him!!!!!!! Or he will have a reverse sneezing always??? Your answers will be very appreciated for me and my puppy. Also he still has a skin allergy, he's itching, I'm still looking for the reason of this. By the vaccination day he was itching about 2 weeks and I asked vet to cancel his vaccination, he didn't agree with me. Thus, my puppy is itching a lot plus he has a reverse sneezing almost every day; he is taking Clemastine Fumarate (from itching - about 3.5 weeks) and Cefpodoxime Proxetil (from cacci which was found in his skin test 3 days ago). He is on the homemade diet (rice, turkey, cota cheese, vitamins, fish oil, carrot). He's eating, drinking and walking well. But reverse snezing... so long time... I worry about him!!! Ok, thank you very much for your answers. But I still haven't the answer for my main question - what have to I do with reverse sneezing ??? For instance, today my puppy had it about 5-7 times only for morning. I don't think that it's normal for French Bulldogs. My own opinion - something wrong with him, maybe it's allergy immune response, but maybe there are bad bacteria??? So what have to I do with this? Maybe we need to do any tests?
Guidance for Scabies. Plz help.?The doctor who is not a skin doctor said that I have scabies, and he previously told my mother that she has scabies as well, but I have different symptoms than my mother but he diagnosed the same disease. ” Blister are dark red”. Whatever it is, all around my body and it is on an increase, I just wanted to ask: 1a-Should I take more baths or less baths? Should I use warm water or cold water for bathing? 1b-Is there any skin disease in which patient should take fewer baths, or in every skin disease patient should take more & more baths? 2-Should I use soap on my body, on scabies or whatever it is? Or should I use a special soap? 3-What should I eat & what should I avoid to eat? 4-I am using Betnetan tablet, tandegyl-ds (clemastine) tablets for skin allergies. Calamine lotion which has (calamine 15%,Zinc oxide 5%,Bentonite 3%,Sodium Nitrate 05%, liquid Phenol 0.5%, Glycerine 5%, Water q.s 100 %), will all these medicine work? Paw fungus - heard of this before? We took our min pin/manchester terrier into the vet a couple of weeks ago. She was licking & chewing on her paws until the hair was gone. They did a skin scrape and said that it was a fungus and there was also plant material present. They gave us Sebozole Medicated Shampoo (Miconazole Nitrate 2%/ Chloroxylenol 1%) to use twice a week and Clemastine Fumarate pills to give her twice a day. The pills don’t seem to help the itching, she is still licking and biting and causing sores on her paws. We put on an e-collar today to keep her from them. How long do we wait before going back to the vet and stating this isn’t working? The vet tech stated it would be at least two weeks before we would notice a difference. This is the end of the second week and we see no difference. They almost appear worse from her licking and biting. Any one had experience with this? Thanks for the answers. I asked the vet what we could do about the licking and biting and she said not much. Nice that she didn't tell me that the licking would make it worse.... oh well, guess we will continue with the shampoo and hope for results. Thanks!
I Heard Claritin Advertising itself as Non-Drowsy, Really? Here is the Side-Effect Profile: Reported Adverse Events With an Incidence of More Than 2% in Placebo-Controlled Allergic Rhinitis Clinical Trials in Patients 12 Years of Age and Older — Percent of Patients Reporting Loratadine Placebo Clemastine Terfenadine 10 mg qd 1 mg bid 60 mg bid n=1926 n=2545 n=536 n=684 Headache 12% 11% 8% 8% Somnolence 8% 6% 22% 9% Fatigue 4% 3% 10% 2% Dry mouth 3% 2% 4% 3% Adverse events reported in placebo-controlled chronic idiopathic urticaria trials were similar to those reported in allergic rhinitis studies. Adverse event rates did not appear to differ significantly based on age, sex, or race, although the number of nonwhite subjects was relatively small. [Additionally, I Suspect Alavert is Not Significantly Different from Claritin Reditabs.] Thanks K, I Think Most of Them Do Not SIGNIFCANTLY Cross the Blood-Brain Barrier, Therefore, Act Primarily Peripherally. Thanks John, Less Drowsy. Emerson, and Your Mechanism Accounting for the Drowsiness Seen is?
